THE ARRIVAL

Just Arrived in possibly the most cold corner of the planet! Cant keep my eyes open! Tasting weird food and loving life! Travelled for plus minus 24 hours, and placed myself 7 hours in the future. I have already tasted the 'famous' Kimchi which for those of you who dont know, is fermented cabbage. It sound gross but in South Korea they make it spicy. SO ITS ABSOLUTELY HORRID! ha ha that being said my tastebuds have certainly gone on an interesting adventure! I have been here for two nights and have tasted all the sea and land animals that Korea has to offer.

It was my birthday yesterday, which turned out to be an absolutely great day. Three friends and I went on a mission to find food and beer as all we reieved at the orientation was.... well we not really sure. We entered the streets of Jeonju to find that we could see no bars, strange but eventually we noticed signes with beer logos on them. We chose to follow them into a dodgy building, where we were met by a bowing Korean. We strangely found ourself bowing back and ending up in a little black room with tables and a bar. We ate the most amazing Sweet and Sour 'pork' and shared a massive container of beer.

The next day we had dinner with all the EPIC recruits and I was presented with a present by the organizers. It is a bussines card holder which is mainly comprised of abalone. It is called NajeonchiQlgi which signifies harmony of different forces. It is such an amazing gift and it is deeply seated in Koreas history.

Its been a ride so far. Cant wait to see what comes later

The Wait

My visa is ready, flight booked and SARS form is on its way. Its unblievable how exited I am to embark on a journey that I have waited so long for. All those who are going to South Korea to teach english are in a space where we do not know what to expect. We constantly have the strangest questions going through our minds, Are we ever going to get there? How is the public transport? Is South Korea safe? What are we going to be expected to do? among many other questions. All I know is that I am ready to see what the WORLD has to offer!
